This year, the International School of Geneva (ECOLINT) is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and to mark this special occasion, the Roots and Shoots group at La Châtaigneraie campus has embarked on an exciting project. Set amidst the picturesque countryside above Lake Geneva, their campus is rich in natural beauty and biodiversity.
The group, made up of primary and middle school students, has taken on the challenge of identifying «100 species for our 100th year» found on our campus. They aim to create an online book that will showcase this biodiversity and serve as a valuable resource for the entire school community. Through this project, they hope to inspire greater appreciation for the species that share our environment, highlight their importance, and encourage actions to protect them.
Using cameras and recording apps, they have been able to observe and document many fascinating animals, especially in the forested areas of our school. They are fortunate to have access to a variety of habitats, including a forest, pond, river, and eco-gardens, all of which provide homes for diverse wildlife. They believe this project will be a wonderful contribution to their school’s legacy, fostering a deeper connection to the natural world for current and future generations.
